An alligator from Louisiana

The alligator skin used here is a mixed scales skin from Louisiana. The skin is sourced from breeding farms approved by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Federal Agency, adhering to CITES, a treaty to protect endangered animals and plants. Every farm undergoes regular audits to ensure their continuous adherence to Jean Rousseau's ethical code and values. Once skinned, the alligator meat is consumed by humans.

A meticulous preparation

The preparation of the alligator skin is an essential stage. The skin is tanned using tanning agents in Jean Rousseau's own manufacture in France. The alligator skin is then solid dyed, before a pigment-based surface treatment is applied to highlight the beauty of the material. Working on skins involves an alchemy that evolves constantly thanks to the innovations introduced by the Manufacture.

A rigorous finishing

The leather is then passed on to extremely high tech machines, that cut the leather, before being passed on to highly skilled artisans in the manufacture that hand stitch the alligator leather and the calf lining together. The bracelet is then checked by experts for quality control.
